With the COVID-19 virus spreading so quickly, I wanted to share some solutions and protocols that may help you and your family stay healthy.
The actual incubation period is uncertain and only estimated to be around 14 days. This strain of corona virus causes fever, cough, respiratory symptoms, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases of immuno-compromised individuals, infection can provoke a secondary bacterial infection like pneumonia and kidney failure. The secondary bacterial infection appears to be antibiotic resistant.
Antibiotics are not effective towards this virus. The key is to prevent it from turning into pneumonia — and this is where homeopathy can be extraordinarily beneficial. Homeopathy has a system in place for treating epidemics/pandemics known as the Genus Epidemicus. Instead of a more individualized treatment, a few major remedies are used based on characteristic symptoms so treatment can be expedited. I have a robust supply of the remedies that are recommended for COVID-19. They are Gelsemium, Bryonia, and Eupertorium-Perfoliatum, and a lesser known remedy, Squila-Mar. If you choose to pick up these remedies try and get a 200C. This potency may be taken every hour if symptoms occur as the recommended dose. A lesser potency such as 30C would be taken more often. Contact me if you need a differential for these remedies.
In the meantime, here are some things you can do to keep yourself and your family safe:
1) Either Oscillococcinum 9C or Influenzinum 9C, two homeopathic remedies for influenza, may be useful as prophylaxis. Influenzinum is created every year to match the primary influenza strains that are expected to arise but the homeopathic community is confirming that any year currently available is fine to use. Another potential preventative is Thuja occidentalis 30C. Indian homeopaths are recommending Arsenicum album also as a prophylactic in 30C. The protocol is one dose (3-5 pellets) weekly for 4 weeks and then once a month until the threat of infection has passed. 2) Astragalus and Echinacea herbal tinctures can be helpful in fighting a viral infection. Like the homeopathic remedies listed above, it may be of some use as prophylaxis.
Recommended dosage: one dropper full in the morning and evening, daily.
2) High doses of Vitamin C, preferably liposomal for greater bio-availability, help the immune system stay nimble.
“Vitamin C supports epithelial barrier function against pathogens and promotes the oxidant scavenging activity of the skin, thereby potentially protecting against environmental oxidative stress. Vitamin C accumulates in phagocytic cells, such as neutrophils, and can enhance chemotaxis, phagocytosis, generation of reactive oxygen species, and ultimately microbial killing.”
3) If a fever develops, do NOT take any anti-pyretic — including aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen should muscle aches occur. Fever is the body’s best defense against any viral illness, and suppressing fever with aspirin is what can lead to secondary infections. There are also safe ways to deal with a fever, from remedies to tepid bathing. There are also safe homeopathic ways to deal with muscle aches that can accompany a flu.
Please stay safe and follow the widely recommended safeguards at this time and let me know if I can be of service. Remember that fear is also contagious. Panic can spread as easily as infection so stay centered and focused as we enter the weeks ahead.
